Over 200 runners and walkers took to he roads and trails outside of Nevada City on Saturday morning. The 27th Annual Spring Run 5 and 10 K runs and a 5 K walk, sponsored by the United Methodist Church, was a success. The hilly and beautiful course presented some challenges but the participants were all happy to be there. Event Co-Director Marianne Boyer says the money raised by the Spring Run goes to support a number of good causes.
One effort of particular interest is support for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Instead of the traditional t-shirt for participating in the run, the participants received a healthy tomato plant to begin their vegetable gardens.
The Spring Run is the second race in the Gold Country Grand Prix. The next race is the Community 5&10K on May 18 sponsored by Twin Cities Church in Grass Valley.
