81 Year Old Penn Valley Woman Involved in U Turn Accident

An 81 year old Penn Valley woman was involved in an accident Friday afternoon on Highway 20 near the fair grounds.  CHP Public Information Marc Morrison says the woman was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile when she pulled off the road. Officer Morrison says the woman then attempted to make a u turn.

“She decided she needed to go the other direction. She pulled onto the shoulder and then started a U turn to go the other way. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to see someone in the Outback approaching her and started her U turn right into his path.”

A fifty year old woman from Smartsville was a passenger in the Oldsmobile and suffered non life threatening injuries. She was taken to Sierra Nevada Hospital for treatment. The CHP says the driver of the Outback was not able to stop in time and struck the Oldsmobile broadside The Accident remains under investigation.
