A True Fun Run

There is a difference between “running for fun” and a “fun run” and on Sunday between 150 and 200 runners, walkers, and some dogs participated in an event that was both. Union Newspaper Publisher Dave Schmall said The Great Prospector Beer Run is a lot of fun.

A number of vikings, pirates, bees, and other interesting characters were taking advantage of trying out Halloween costumes. A couple of sisters dressed as witches were having a great time.

The Cameron, Cliff, and Betsy Brown of Grass Valley shared a costume dressed as a three-pack of root beer.

SPD Market provided a BBQ lunch and Ol’ Republic Brewery had all of its beer on tap adding to the festivities. Proceeds from The Great Prospector Beer Run go to support the Sierra Nevada Trailblazers Running Club. The community event was sponsored by the Union,  Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Dignity Health, and the South Yuba Club.
