Rita Stevens joined KNCO as morning news anchor in 1999. She comes to KNCO following a 20 year career in journalism in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was a news reporter for KRON TV Channel 4 and KPIX, and earlier worked in the newsrooms at KNEW/KSAN radio. Rita is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. Rita says she came to Nevada County to enjoy the rural pace and finds working in a community radio station like KNCO refreshing. Her hobbies include bicycle riding, and quilting.

A Weekened with Firefighters and LE, what more could I ask for?

Saturday from 9 to 3 the public is invited to the Higgins Fire Department’s Open House in the South County on HWY 49 and Combie Road, near Lake of the Pines. There will be lots of equipment on display, demonstrations,  fun for kids and information for everyone. Dads will like the helicopter and jaws of life demo, moms will like the fact that the Lake of the Pines Fire Wise council is making a Bar-be-Que lunch, ( did I mention fire fighters and Law Enforcement will be there, enough said!) and of course the kids will have fun in the Fire education trailer, the bounce house and Smoky Bear will be there too. I hope to post pictures on my face book page. You can find it through mary@knco.com/facebook.
