An employee of the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley has been arrested on embezzlement charges. Kristin Mary Glanz, who worked as a program assistant at the center was arrested by Grass Valley police and was arraigned Wednesday in Nevada County Superior court. Capt Rex Marks explains the investigation that led up to the arrest.
“We actually received the case the first of August and detectives were able to piece together what was believed to be a case of embezzlement involving forged signatures on company checks as well as electronic ATM transactions that were also on the account of the Center for the Arts.”
Glanz allegedly stole some $17 thousand dollars from the center over the past year. Glanz was found in Colorado and did return to Grass Valley for questioning. Because of her previous residence in Colorado Capt. Marks says she is considered a flight risk.
“Because of her expedited departure, following the discovery of the incident, we felt that she was a potential flight risk. Her future plans include residing in Colorado, which would make it increasingly difficult for us to continue with the prosecution and the trial. We did request consideration of that when the judge issued the bond.”
Bail was set at $15 thousand dollars. Glanz is scheduled back in Nevada County Superior court to enter a plea On September 1st.
