The Attorney for Americans for Safe Access (ASA), the local Nevada County cannabis advocacy group, filed a request for a temporary restraining order against Nevada county yesterday to stop the implementation of the emergency marijuana ordnance recently passed by the board of Supervisors. Patricia Smith the President of ASA says they complaint was postponed by judge Shawn Dowling to give the county time to prepare.

The Emergency marijuana ordinance was passed on a 4 to 1 vote by Supervisors at their May 8th meeting after Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal met with ASA and other groups for and against an ordinance beginning back in October to create an enforceable ordinance to control nuisance complaints from residents throughout the county about the growing of medicinal marijuana in neighborhoods. Attorney Jeff lake will be back in court June 1st to ask for the restraining order on behalf of ASA.
