ATV Accident Injures 76 Year Old Man

A Friday ATV accident has 76 year old Downieville resident Tom Speak fighting for his life. CHP Public Information Officer Heather Blancarte says the accident happened shortly after nine in the morning. For an unknown reason Speak lost control of his 2011 Polaris Ranger ATV on Lavezzola  Road. When he left the road he went sixty feet over the embankment and stopped at a tree.

“He, while making a left turn, allowed the vehicle to travel off the roadway to the right. The vehicle traveled down a steep embankment, collided into a tree and overturned.”

Speak was flown to Enloe Hospital in Chico by helicopter for treatment.  As of last evening he remained in serious condition at the hospital.
