Bear River Rafter Rescued by Helicopter

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office was contacted last night by a family who had been rafting on the Bear River near the Dog Bar Bridge who said the husband had become separated from the group and could not be found.   Sheriff Keith Royal says search and rescue were called out around 9:30pm and began searching the river bank.   He says fortunately, Placer County had their helicopter in the air and they assisted in the search.

“They responded to help us and they started checking up and down the river banks near the bridge. They did locate the missing family member and extricated them and took them back to their family.”

The rescue by helicopter was completed around midnight last night.  No serious injuries were reported.
