Nevada County Board of Supervisors Chair, Nate Beason was installed this week at the Chair of R-C-R-C, the Rural County Representatives of California. Beason says this is shaping up to be another challenging year for rural counties and one of the first battles will be to repeal the State Responsibility area fire tax.

Beason says they also discussed water and the need to keep local governments at the table when the state discusses the Bay Delta conservation plan and other water plans.

Beason says the rural counties also want to make sure that whatever comes out of the bay delta plan ,  that the people who pays the fees or whatever taxes that result are the people who get the benefit and not the people who don’t.
RCRC is also engaging in a media campaign to inform the residents of urban counties where their food fiber and water come from.

Beason says the rural counties of California have 9 percent of the population but 50 percent of real estate where all the natural resources are and they want to have a big voice.
