Broken Tail Light Leads to Drug Arrest

A driver arrested for driving under the influence had a quantity of marijuana in his car. CHP Public Information Officer Mark Morrison says an officer stopped a car for a broken tail light, late Sunday night. When Officers checked the driver a strong odor of marijuana came out of the car. When the driver was asked where the marijuana was and if he had a medical recommendation, he said the marijuana it was on the seat next to him and he did not have a prescription. Officer Morrison says the car was searched.

“The officers retrieved the bag and confirmed that the driver did not have a recommendation for medicinal marijuana and had him exit the vehicle and upon further search found one more bag of marijuana in the vehicle and another bag in the trunk.”

The driver was cited for misdemeanor possession and for not having a driver’s license.
