A man caught breaking into a car in Nevada City has also been charged with child endangerment. Nevada City Police Officer Scott Goin says a patron leaving the Stonehouse Restaurant early yesterday (Sunday) morning saw a man rifling through his car. With the help of a security officer, 41 year-old Jacob Rice was detained until the Nevada City Police took him into custody. Goin says several hours later officer were called to Rice’s home to check on the welfare of his two children. When officers spoke with a seven and a eight year old they found medication and marijuana within reach of the children.
No other adults were at the home and the children were caring for themselves. The children will remain with Child Protective Services until the court can determine were they should be placed.
