It looks like the game of musical chairs with fire staff is over for now at Cal Fire. First the agency was going to take two firefighter positions from a Nevada City station to man a Station Cal Fire recently aquired in Carnelian Bay Lake Tahoe. When Nevada County officials complained, Cal Fire next decided to take two firefighters from the station in Foresthill to staff Carnelian Bay. That’s when Placer County Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery called on Cal Fire Director Ken Pimlott personally to work out another solution. The meeting was also attended by Cal Fire Nevada Yuba Placer Unit Chief Brad Harris who says a solution has been reached.

Chief Harris says Cal Fire is using funds available to them through other means to provide for additional firefighters to staff the extra engine. Supervisor Montgomery says she is working with Cal Fire to find a permanent solution for staffing all of the Placer county Cal Fire stations. She said she is optimistic those efforts will also be successful. Supervisor Montgomery’s 5th District includes Carnelian Bay and Foresthill.
