If you’ve been waiting to burn piles of leaves or other debris, you can do so on approved burn days, starting today.
However, November 1st is a non-burn day in Nevada County.
CalFire spokeswoman Lynne Tolmachoff says pile sizes are limited to four feet in diameter, and has to be at least ten feet away from flammable material or vegetation. You need to keep a water supply close to the burning site, and an adult should be in attendance with a shovel until the fire is put out. This year, the burning restrictions are being lifted on November first, but Tolmachoff says it all depends on the weather.

‘No Burn Days’ can still be issued, depending on conditions. You are advised to call the burn info line (274-7928 in Nevada County) before you burn.
