Child Suffers Broken Ankle After Riding on Car

The CHP is investigating how a 12 year old child fell off a car and broke his ankle. CHP Public Information Officer Marc Morrison says the staff of Sierra Nevada Hospital notified the CHP almost three hours after the incident happened, on Tasha Road near Nevada City Tuesday night. Officer Morrison says a 30 year old woman driving a 2000 Dodge Durango had the child holding on a luggage rack.

“He’d allowed a 12 year old boy to ride on the side of the Durango and he was doing so by hanging on to the luggage rack and had his feet on the running boards. He lost his footing and was tossed to the ground.”

The young boy suffered a fractured ankle. The CHP is continuing the investigation into the judgment this driver was using when the accident happened.
