Cinderella Project Collects Dresses for Prom

The Cinderella Project was formed in Nevada County one year ago to ensure that high school girls who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a prom dress can get one.   The nonprofit organization is under the umbrella of the Friendship Club and all donations are tax deductible. Sarah Gordon with the Cinderella Project says last year they were able to provide 26 girls with dresses.   Over the past year they have collected about 250 dresses that have been donated by the community.  Gordon says the need right now is for the accessories.

“What we really need at this point are shoes and handbags and jewelry and we do still need dresses size 12 and larger.”

The deadline to get dresses and accessories in is this Saturday, March 10th and there are several drop off locations.

“One is the Union, one is Launderland next to Port of Subs and Safeway in the Brunswick Basin. Another drop off site is the drive through Cappuccino Factory on Brunswick across from Staples.”

Another drop off location in South County is the Music Shop   on Wolfe road.
