The city of Colfax is keeping with one tradition, but also incorporating something new to their holiday celebration. For the last ten years or so, the Independence Day festivities have been on the third of July instead of the fourth, and that will continue this year.
Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce President Frank Klein says there are about 60 entries in the Lions’ parade. This year, though, instead of fireworks tomorrow night (Thursday), they are going to have a laser light show.
The reason is the drought. They will have smoke to reflect the lasers off of downtown buildings, and show producers say it’s something that people will enjoy. Klein says, though, that people have their doubts.
There will also be musical entertainment throughout the day and evening, the NASCAR number-three car driven by the late Dale Earnhardt will be on display, and there will be food vendors and a beer garden.
