Controller Sends Schools more than $1Billion Lottery Funds this Year

State Controller John today is sending schools more than $1 Billion dollars in lottery funds for the year.  Spokesperson Jacob Roper says this is part of Prop 20 that voters approved in the 1990’s that authorized the state lottery.

“Nevada County will receive approximately 1.75 million dollars. That money will go to the treasurer of Nevada County and then it will be distributed to the school districts from the treasurers office.”

Nevada County will receive $4 thousand dollars more this year than it did last year from the Lottery Funds.  The total statewide distribution of Lottery funds to schools this year equals 1.12 Billion dollars to counties across the state.
