Witnesses report a speeding corvette traveling northbound on State Route 49 south of Sharonjack Road around 5 o’clock last evening, lost traction and started spinning off the road, crashed into a small tree and a bush before becoming airborne where it proceeded to vault end over end approximately two full rotations and came to rest on its wheels Both northbound lanes of State Route 49 were blocked. CHP officer Jeff Pingree says the driver, 48 year old Brent Jackson of Grass Valley had to be extricated from the vehicle.
“He was life flighted to Roseville Sutter Hospital and at this time his injuries don’t seem to be too severe.”
Traffic on Highway 49 was reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for approximately one hour as the collision was investigated and was completely shut down for 18 minutes as Cal Star landed. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
