A Crescent City man is under arrest after leading the CHP on a wild ride on interstate 80 early this Tuesday morning. Public Information Officer Tony Prisco says the incident started shortly after one with a report of possible domestic violence east bound on the freeway in Truckee. Officer Prisco says the car was spotted this time going west bound on the freeway. CHP officers tried to make a car stop at Soda Springs and the chase was on.
“At the Kingvale Street undercrossing, the vehicle proceeded up and got on the freeway westbound in the eastbound lanes and continued all the way down to the Lang exit at which time it exited the freeway at Lang onto the frontage road there at which time the driver drove up into the woods and took off on foot and was later apprehended.”
Joseph King was taken into custody and was charged with suspicion of kidnapping, spousal abuse, carjacking, having a stolen car and a number of other charges. Witnesses reported King was armed with a handgun. Officer Prisco says they have not located the gun and the victim was not seriously injured.
