A plea agreement has lead to sentencing for an 18 year old Grass Valley man on a rape charge. Nevada County Deputy District Attorney Katy Francis says Jonathan Eli Danly was sentenced to one year in jail and three years probation after pleading no contest to sex with a minor who was 14 years old at the time. Francis says the crime occurred following a Grass Valley Thursday Night market last summer and the girl was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
“It was very traumatic for the victim and we were very cognizant of her needs throughout this process. We worked with her and came up with what we thought was a reasonable disposition for the case.”
Sentencing was before Superior Court Judge R.M. Smith. Danly, who had bragged about the attack on-line made a public apology. He was ordered not to have any contact with the victim including over the internet. He was also ordered to undergo sex offender counseling and have no contact with any minor females without another adult present.
