Deadline is Friday to Run for Office

The deadline to register to run for public office in the June election is this Friday March 9th at 5pm. Nevada County Clerk Recorder Gregory Diaz says his office will be open.

“Don’t dawdle. Come into the office and give yourself plenty of time. If there is an omission, you’ll have time to make a correction. But 5:00 PM Friday, March 9th, that’s it. That’s the deadline.”

And residents can register to vote up until May 21 and you can get the voter registration form on-line.

“You can get the form online. The form needs to be printed out and it needs to be filled out and then sent to us. So it’s not completely automated yet. But most of the information is, in fact, online. The voter registration form can be downloaded and then it can be filled out. We actually have it on our website mynevadacounty.com and they also have it on the Secretary of State website.”

For declaration of candidacy, nomination documents, signatures for local and state and federal offices again must be submitted to the Nevada county Recorder Clerk’s office at 5pm Friday.
