Donner Lake Boater Body Found

The search has ended for a 24 year old Truckee man who went missing in Donner Lake after the canoe he was in capsized Monday evening.

At about 11 am yesterday morning dive team members on one of the law enforcement boats saw something under the water that caught their attention. Captain Randy Finn with the Truckee Police department says divers went into investigate.

“Divers went in to investigate and found the body of the missing boater. The divers recovered the body and he was transferred to the Nevada County Sheriff Coroner.”

The recovered body was positively identified by the Nevada county Sheriff/coroner’s office as Eric William Kiser, 24-years old of Truckee. The cause of death is not known pending an autopsy. Kiser’s body was recovered in approximately 15 feet of water about 150 yards from the shore. Heavy winds on the lake are believed to be the cause of the accident. The capsized canoe was recovered near the shore of the Tahoe Donner Marina as well as some clothing items believed to have belonged to the female swimmer that accompanied Kiser. She was able to swim to shore and call for help.
