A driver did not notice the long line of cars waiting to make a left turn onto Combie Rd a few minutes after 6:00 PM on Monday. As a result, there was a rear end collision that set off a chain reaction involving three cars. CHP Officer Greg Tassone say that traffic in the area was still a bit heavy due to the evening commute.
Tassone says the amount of damage sustained by the car initiating the collision was a red flag for excessive speed. While cars were being moved to parking lots in the area the driver of the car was evaluated.
The driver, Jane Hanna, 56 of Grass Valley was arrested on felony DUI charges because several injuries did occur as a result of the accident. Hanna received some minor bruises and abrasions, several of the occupants in the car that was sandwiched were transported to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.
