DVSAC Receives Grant from Mary Kay

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition has been chosen to receive a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation as part of the organization’s annual $3 million national domestic violence grant program. DVSAC is one of 150 domestic violence organizations participating in the program. Niko Johnson, DVSAC Executive Director says the grant will be used to provide safe emergency shelter for domestic violence survivors and their children in Western Nevada County.

“We will be using it at our shelters. So it will continue to help provide emergency shelter for survivors and their children. It will help with counseling and case management, helping them find permanent, safe places to live after they leave our shelter.”

DVSAC has been serving Western Nevada County since 1978.  All services are free and confidential.  In 2000, DVSAC opened its first shelter doors for survivors.   The DVSAC 24 hour crisis line is #(530) 272-3467.
