E- Waste Collection Supports Senior Project to Mexican Village

Seniors at Nevada Union High School are busy working on their senior projects, including Kylar Malarae who is planning an international humanitarian mission to the Mexican town of Colima. Kylar is a member of the 49er Rotary youth Interact group and plans to sponsor 12 children in the town,  for which he will need to raise $1,200 dollars.

“We go there just to build relationships with these kids and bring tooth brushes to help with hygiene down there. Most of the kids down there have never seen tooth brushes before in their lives. So we go down there just to interact with the kids. We bring food and clothes, but our main topic is to bring hygiene to them.”

To raise money for the trip called ‘Project Amigo’, Kyler will be putting on an e waste collection fundraiser this Saturday at Goombas’ Restaurant.

“It’s free. All you have to do is bring any e-waste supplies which is monitors, televisions, notebooks, copiers- anything like that, anything electronic. What we’re going to do is have a big dumpster at Goomba’s restaurant which on Colfax Avenue right off 174.”

The e waste collection is from 9am to 1 pm this Saturday.
