Early Morning Accident Injures One

The CHP says it is a miracle that only one car was involved in a early morning accident in Nevada City. CHP Sergeant Mike Lawrence says traffic from interstate 80 was being diverted down Highway 20 because a big rig accident that had closed the highway. A male driver in his mid twenties lost control of his Volvo sedan. Sergeant Lawrence says he was going so fast on the wet roads he went through the center divider.

“He was eastbound approaching Sacramento Street at a very high rate of speed, the roadway was wet and the gentleman lost control of his vehicle and veered to the left, striking the center divider. He went through the center divider, reentered the westbound lanes and rolled over, coming to rest on his top.”

The Sergeant says with all the traffic coming down Highway 20 it is a miracle no other cars were involved. Three other accidents happened in other areas of the county moments later.
