Emergency Service Stresses Snow Storm Preparedness

The forecast is calling for significant snow accumulation tonight for the Grass Valley and Nevada city areas above 2000 feet. Vic Ferrera with the Nevada county office of Emergency Services says the roads could be a problem for many.

“Six inches to ten inches but a little bit of snow can become a big deal sometimes here because it’s just not the norm and also, this winter has been not fairly dry but really dry. So everything will be slippery and icy and people trying to go up roads that have a little incline will have a challenge.”

The storm warning is for tonight and through Wednesday, calling for 6 to 10 inches of snow late tonight in the Nevada City, Grass Valley and Truckee areas with winds gusts from 25 to 35 miles an hour with stronger gusts over the ridges.
