Nevada County Supervisors at their meeting Tuesday received an annual report on the activities of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council. Ron Moser was appointed as President and CEO effective February 1st of this year, after Gil Mathew stepped down. Also this year the ERC moved to offices in the Nevada County Contractors Association building to save money.
Moser told the board the ERC is in the process of updating their website which he says continues to evolve as a primary marketing tool to bring business and jobs to the county and there is a new incubator initiative to bring people with new business ideas together with investors.
“Nevada County has a long history of incubating its own businesses. Grass Valley Group, AJA, Telestream. All of these came out of local businesses in our community.”
Moser says one disappointment of the year for the ERC was an unsuccessful effort to secure an $11 million dollar stimulus grant to bring Broadband to Nevada County. The Economic Resource Council received $50,000 in funding from the county last year and will be going before the Supervisors for a funding review next month.
