Extra CHP at Fair Make Double Digit Arrests

Extra CHP Officers brought in just for the fair made double digit arrests for driving under the influence in an eight hour period. CHP officer Cindy Morgan says an extra enforcement team was brought in Saturday night to concentrate on those people suspected of driving under the Influence. Officer Morgan says a number of people were arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.

“Well, the extra team did come up just for Saturday night only  and between the hours of 6:00 pm and 2:00 am in the Grass Valley area here, we made 16 DUI arrests, two other arrests and 65 citations were issued.”

In addition to the DUI arrests two people were taken into custody for being drunk in public. Officers also issued sixty five citations for various traffic violations. Officer Morgan says some of the citations were for speed, failure to stop at a stop sign, Tinted windows and talking on a cell phone while driving.
