Farmer’s Market Food Training

One highlight of a Farmers Market is being able to sample products on the spot. It gets even better if customers get vouchers for the products too! University of California Cooperative Extension Representative Dan Macon says there is a workshop being offered Wednesday to prepare people to provide booth services at Placer and Nevada County Farmer’s Markets.

The two hour workshop is interactive to replicate the market experience.

The booths that UC Cooperative Extension will be focus on locally produced fruits and vegetables so the program also provides vouchers to cover the costs for some local shoppers.

A class this Wednesday is offered in Auburn at 6 PM at the UC Cooperative Extension Office in the DeWitt Center. The class is free, but volunteers are expected to be available to work at least 8 hours durinig the upcoming growers maket season to support the UC Cooperative Extension booth.

Future classes will be scheduled in Nevada County.
