Fire Breaks Out on Biggs Ave at Depot in Grass Valley

Four fire engines responded to a report of a house fire in the 200 Block of Biggs Avenue near Depot in Grass valley shortly after noontime today. Nevada County Consolidated Fire Captain Jim turner explains the homeowners saw smoke coming from a bedroom and called 9-1-1.

“They determined that they had a small fire in one of the interior walls so they located the fire and opened the wall, they checked the attic to make sure that they didn’t have an extension fire, because they did have some smoke up there. Right now we’ve got the fire contained and they’re going through salvage and overhaul, making sure that there’s no hidden fire and also taking care of the personal belongings of the homeowner.”

Captain Turner says the residents should be able to return to their home once firefighters give the all clear.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire call drew response from Nevada City Fire, Grass Valley Fire, Ophir Hill Fire and Nevada County Consolidated.
