Fire officials say extra precaution may be need if you plan on burning in the next several days. Consolidate Battalion Chief David Ray says with the north winds expected for the next several days, the chance of a fire escaping could be realized. Chief Ray says the north wind will dry out the ground and small branches allowing them to catch fire easily.
“We are expecting to have a north wind, so if anybody is burning out there, though it seems quite nice, it will dry out very quickly and the opportunity for a fire to escape your control is quite great.”
The combination of the north wind and the lack of rain is prompting fire official to urge the caution. There are currently no plans to suspend burning permits.
