Firefighters now have a line around a 4-acre fire near the Diamond Arrow Campground outside Nevada City in the Lake Vera area that was presumably started by an escaped campfire early this morning.
The mop up on the operations will take 5 to 6 hours as lots of fuels are on the ground in the area from a nearby BLM mastication project. Firefighters have a wet line around the burning area and are putting out any hot spots. Fire officials did talk to a suspect in the area and Cal Fire’s Lynn Tolmachoff says the man was cited for illegal camping and letting the campfire escape into nearby ground fuels.
Two Cal Fire engines, with many local resources from Nevada County Consolidated Fire District responded to the fire.
