Free Local Fare at Farmers Market

With the outdoor market season now underway, you are being encouraged to ‘eat local’. The University of California Cooperative Extension will be holding a tasting event at the Rood Center Farmer’s Market Tuesday from 3 to 5pm. U-C-C-E Program Advisor Leda McDaniel says they will be handing out samples of a fruit and nut salad….

All of those items are locally grown, and recipes are available. McDaniel says the purpose is to make people aware of all of the healthy foods that you can find right in your back yard……

The U-C Cooperative Extension also did an ‘eat local’ event in Placer County. The project is funded through a block grant from the Department of Food and Agriculture.
