Garage Fire Claims Classic Cars and Threatens Two Houses

Nevada County Consolidated Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday morning at 2:15a.m. in the 11-thousand block of Icon Way off Idaho Maryland road.  Units arrived on scene to find a fully involved detached garage fire.  Twenty three firefighters were at scene for over three hours to extinguish the fire.  Three classic cars were destroyed in the fire including a 1937 Chevy coupe.  The fire spread in the dry grass and threatened two houses but was quickly contained by firefighters.  Responding agencies included Nevada County Consolidated, Nevada City Fire, Grass Valley Fire , Ophir Hill and Cal Fire.
