Glimpse Into Teen Smokers

If you ever thought about quitting smoking, November 15 is the day to do so- It is The Great American Smokeout.

KNCO had the opportunity to speak with some teen smokers about how, why, and how much they smoke.
Peer pressure was one reason kids start smoking at a young age.

Another teenĀ  said it was family influences that led them to cigarettes.

One surprise was how young the teens were when they began to smoke. All began smoking before they were 15… one even younger.

On average the smokers were spending 20 dollars per week on cigarettes.

When asked if they would consider quitting, one teen said no. Another said maybe and one other said he had tried, but nothing seemed to work.

Some of the teens were willing to not have another cigarette for The Great American Smokeout. They even said they would try to quit.
