Good Samaritans Save Life at Highway 49 Firey Crash

It was assistance from some good Samaritans that likely saved the life of a woman whose Honda Accord burst into flames after striking a tree yesterday afternoon. The accident happened on Highway 49 near Lime Kiln Road at 3:25pm.  Nevada County Consolidated Battalion Chief David Ray says they were dispatched code three for a vehicle accident with fire and upon arrival they found a 60 year old female driver being attended to along the roadway by passers by.   The patient suffered a broken open fracture to the right lower leg.  The driver of the Honda was pulled from the burning wreck by an Alta Sierra man who saw the accident and pulled over to assist.  Also assisting was a Sierra Nevada Hospital employee that was driving by. Chief Ray says “This driver’s life was saved by good Samaritans who stopped and assisted.”   A CHP helicopter transported the woman to Sutter Roseville Trauma Center for treatment.
