Grant Awarded to North Columbia School House Cultural Center

The North Columbia School House and Cultural Center has received a grant from the California Council for Humanities Cultural Center Executive Director, Amanda Jensen says the school house known for its international storytelling festival each year will be conducting the interviews to make up the “Landscape of Stories”   from Residents living in the South Yuba Watershed.

“A Landscape Full of Stories” is the name of the project and we’ll be doing a rural story collection and documentation project, interviewing members of the community, about long ago history and recent history, exploring more deeply the relationship to the land and how it is to make a life in a rural area.”

The North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center puts on weekly concerts and events as well as making the facilities available to the community.   The North Columbia School House and Cultural Center is located at 17894 Tyler Foot Road.
