The City of Grass Valley is hiring a new City Attorney in a contract that will save the city $12 thousand dollars. City Administrator Dan Holler says the recent action will reduce the city’s legal retainer budget for the year from $70 thousand dollars to $62 thousand dollars.
“We’ve had the same City Attorney since ’04 and what the council wanted to do was do a RFP to see who else was out there.”
Holler says of the request for proposals 5 law firms applied and were interviewed by council members and city staff and Michael Colantuono of the law firm Colantuono and Levin was hired as the new city attorney. Colantuono lives locally and has law offices in Penn Valley and Los Angeles. He also is the attorney for the City of Auburn. He replaces Ruthann Ziegler with the law firm Meyers and Nave out of Sacramento who has served as the Grass Valley City Attorney since 2004.
