The 4th semi-annual Job Fair and job development forum is today from noon to 5 pm at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial building. BCI events a division of Biotechnology Calendar, incorporated, markets the fair for the employed, unemployed, underemployed a student or semi-retired of our community. April Zeeman with Biotech offers some tips on being prepared.
“It’s always good to look up who is coming in advance. We have a long list of companies who are coming. Kind of prepare yourself. Bring resumes, bring some cover letters. If you are more independent, bring a business card. You’ll have all the tools you need so you can speak to them intelligently about their needs and how you can fit those needs.”
In addition to businesses looking to hire employees, Ed Beaudette with Biotech says the job fair will offer workshops put on by One Stop.
“One of our sponsors is the One Stop Center who is going to be doing some specialty workshops and they’re doing them just for this job fair but on our website, the Grass Valley Job Fair.com website. Those two workshops are going to be on how to prepare for a job fair. And there are a couple of subtleties to that. Everything you see on the internet is ‘how to get your resume right’ and ‘how to prepare for your first interview.’ Something about a job fair is that it is there to combine those components and the One Stop is going to be there to help our people out.”
