Grass Valley Man's Death Considered Suspicious

Details are few surrounding the suspicious death of a man on Toby Trail. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a son had not seen or heard from his father for some time. When the son entered the home late Tuesday afternoon the body of a male was found deceased. The Sheriff says the decomposition of the body is hampering the investigation.

“We find a suspicious scene. We don’t know if it’s an attempted suicide or if this is a homicide. There’s blood splatter on the walls. The body is in a condition where, at this point, we are unable to determine or confirm the identity of who the person is as well as the cause of death, so we’re processing the scene as a suspicious death.”

The victim’s home is located off Greenhorn Road. Evidence team from the Department of Justice is helping in the collection of evidence at the home. The Sheriff says they are treating this as a suspicious death because of the unknown factors. A autopsy is schedule. The Sheriff hopes the results will help answer questions surrounding the death.
