Grass Valley Police Acted Appropriately in May Shooting Incident

Grass Valley Police Chief John Foster is proud of the way his men handled themselves in regards to shooting incident that occurred on May 17 at Highway 174 and the Bear River Bridge which ended with the death of Rod Dankers. Foster says his officers responded with professionalism.

Foster is also saddened for the Dankers’ Family that the event took place.

Chief Foster also said that he was not aware of the District Attorney’s findings until the report was released Thursday afternoon.

Foster also gives credit to training because incidents such as the May 17th shooting do not occur on a regular basis in the Grass valley area.

Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell released the results of the investigation which stated the fatal shot was self inflicted.
