Grass Valley Remembers Mayor and Fire Chief Ed Tellum

Retired Fire Chief and Grass Valley City Council member and mayor for 4 years in the 1970s, Ed Tellam, passed away on Saturday. Tellam was a Grass Valley Fire fighter from 1954 to the late 1970s and was Grass Valley Fire Chief in 1963 and 1978, Tellam was 84. Grass Valley Fire Chief Tony Claributt says Tellam’s family followed his example.

“Ed was a great contributor to the city. His family sort of followed in his footsteps. His brother was a firefighter, his son Keith was a volunteer firefighter and his grandson Robert is currently a career firefighter with Nevada County Consolidated.”

Services will be this Friday the 10th at the Grass Valley Veterans Hall on S. Auburn Street at 11am.
