Grass Valley Woman Killed in Highway 49 Collision

The woman who was killed in a collision on Highway 49 Friday has been identified as 66 year old Judith Booth.    She was driving a Black Hundai SUV and attempted to make a U Turn directly into the path of a big rig driven by Rigo Berto of Morgan Hill. Berto was driving for the company called Cal Color, delivering nursery plants in Grass Valley and was also traveling southbound on his return trip to Morgan Hill. Officer Deanna Hernandez with the Grass Valley CHP office says the truck driver had no time to stop.

“He had just dropped off a load at Grocery Outlet in Grass Valley and he was heading back southbound on 49 back to Morgan Hill, which is where the company is out of. Right in his path of travel, he didn’t even have any skids or anything out there. So basically, he impacted her at whatever speed he was going, which had to be at least 55 miles per hour.”

Life Flight helicopters were called to the scene, a nurse on board pronounced the woman deceased at the scene and the coroner was called.   The driver of the semi truck did not suffer any reported injuries.
