Registration is now underway for a new Pond Management class that’s being offered next month for property owners struggling to evict scum and algae, or hoping to enhance their pond for better fishing, irrigation, swimming or fire protection. The class is being led by Paul Weir who is a horticulturist and pond plant specialist. He says the class will have both classroom and hands on pond related activities and is for people wanting to build new, or who already have a pond.
“If, in fact, they’ve already started a pond or they’ve already got a pond that they’re taking on, we can help them with concerns that they may have with regards to water quality, issues with weeds and algae, physical characteristics of the pond. We go into quite a bit of depth with regards to construction, ideal slopes, how to set up wildlife islands.”
The Pond management class will be on Saturday March 24th at Golden Pond Water Plants Nursery on Sierra College Blvd. in Loomis. Registration is $45 dollars and more information is available at the website, Green Acres 101 dot com. and call instructor, Paul Weir to reserve your spot for the class at 530 388-8641.
