GVPD Above The Mark

The Grass Valley Police Department is well above the national average when it comes to solving crimes that occur in the city. Chief John Foster, at last night’s City Council meeting , presented his quarterly progress report and included crime statistics for Grass Valley. The Chief says the FBI rates the department above average in the area of solving crime.

What the Chief didn’t say- is that his department had this success while being understaffed due to budget cuts.
The number of burglaries and auto thefts in Grass Valley did increase in 2012. Funds from Measure N will increase a police presence to assist with addressing the rise in those types of crimes.
