Highway 49 Head On Update

The person responsible for a head on collision on highway 49 Friday that sent two people to the hospital has been found. CHP Public Information Officer David Martinez says the head on collision happened on Highway 49 at Lone Star Road shortly after nine a.m. Officer Martinez says a seventeen year old driving a white Acura Integra pulled in front of several cars causing the other cars to collide head on. Officer Martinez says one of the witnesses stopped the teenage suspect.

“One of the witnesses had forced the driver of the white Acura onto the shoulder. This witness then got out of his vehicle, took a picture of the license plate, was able to take a picture of the driver, and then the driver fled the scene.”

Officer Martinez says additional CHP officers were waiting at the teen’s home in San Jose when he arrived. Officer Martinez says charges will be filed with the court for hit and run. Sutter Roseville Hospital says both of the seriously hurt people from the accident have been released.
