Highway 49 Update

The installation of overhead power lines may cause some delays on HWY 49 near La Barr Meadows road in Grass Valley Thursday.

The highway construction on Highway 49 at La Barr Meadows Road is on time and on budget according to CALTRANS Public Information Officer Mark Dinger who says some of the paving is done and in the next month areas of the new paving will be used to divert traffic so the construction company can work on the present highway. Dinger says there will be disruptions on the highway at the construction on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Thursday we are going to have some traffic controls out in that area; some intermittent controls where we’re going to work with the CHP to hold traffic there while we hold traffic there while we put some overhead power lines across the roadway, so that might slow you up during the midway on Thursday and of course, if you see us out there, just slow for the cone zone and your delay will just be a short one.”

The construction is scheduled to be completed next year with the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection. Dinger says they have not run into any major problems in the constructions. The paving project will not be entirely completed in this construction year.
