Historical Society Meets Tonight

A man whose great-great grandmother traveled to Nevada City by covered wagon will be talking about her epic journey this evening. Rob Davis will be the guest speaker at the Nevada County Historical Society’s meeting at the Madelyn Helling Library. He says Sarah Davis was traveling and caring for two infants, saw her sister-in-law die on the trip from Michigan to Nevada City in 1849 and 1850, and crossed the Sierra Nevada in a snowstorm. Rob Davis says Sarah was not an educated woman, but wrote at least a few sentences almost every day…

Tonight’s presentation will be at 7 o’clock in the Gene Albaugh Community Room, and will last about an hour. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
