Jan Fishler

Author ~ Writing Coach ~ Presenter Creator of “Write Your Story Workshops” For 25 years Jan Fishler was a corporate scriptwriter, copywriter, video producer, and trainer, who also dabbled in marketing and public relations, mostly in the non-profit arena. In 2009 she self-published, Searching for Jane, Finding Myself (An Adoption Memoir), available at Amazon.com. and local bookstores. Her Write Your Story workshop taps into the power of the subconscious so that stories come to life and practically write themselves. Jan is also the producer of "The Path to Publication" DVD series, available from Films for the Humanities and Sciences. Filmed at the Community of Writers Conference at Squaw Valley, the series contains advice from such well-known authors as Amy Tan, Anne Lamott, Janet Fitch, and Mark Childress. Jan has a B.S. in English Literature/Creative Writing and an M.S. in Educational Technology/Instructional Design. She lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada where, when she’s not writing, Jan hikes with her Golden Retriever, kayaks with her husband, and regularly works out at the gym. Huge Thumbs Up for Sierra Stages: Closer Than Ever

Cast of Closer Than EverLast night I saw Closer Than Ever at the Off Center Stage (behind the Center for the Arts) in Grass Valley and I can’t say enough good things about it. The cast (Isaias Acosta, Nancy Haffey, Kate Haight, JR Lewis Danny McCammon and Kim Wellman), direction (Peter Mason), the set (Mike Edwards), lighting (Erin Beatie), musical staging (Becky Browning),  and the music (Ken Getz on his Steinway and Steve Nicholson on bass) were absolutely fabulous. This is not just good local talent, these folks are top-notch professionals on all levels.  As a bonus…at the intimate Off Center Stage every seat is a good one. Good News: Closer Than Ever will be showing through November 24. Do something good for yourself and your spouse, partner or friends and go see this wonderful and poignant musical.
